Sponsor Spotlight: Amaryllis Counseling

Get ready for some healin’!

To kick off our blog post highlights for Pridefest 2023, we want to start with an organization that truly represents hope, support, and commitment to our LGBTQIA+ community. That organization is Amaryllis Counseling!

I had time to sit down with one of the owners of Amaryllis counseling, Liz Serricchio, to talk more about her organization! Amaryllis counseling is a therapeutic mental health center offering therapy both in an individual and group setting. Their primary goal is to provide a safe and constructive space for their clients, and they accomplish this well with their 18 therapists currently on staff! Their therapeutic offerings range from your straightforward talk therapy services to more specialized therapeutic approaches in the field of trauma therapy. While their office primarily serves the LGBTQIA+ population of the upstate, they welcome clients from all lifestyles, even those not part of the LGBTQIA+ community!

So, is this just for kids?

That answer is a big ABSOLUTELY NOT!!  Liz details how Amaryllis counseling supports both youth AND adults through their therapeutic journey. Many parents take a journey themselves when their child is figuring out who they are, and that journey can be just as tricky! The counselors at Amaryllis counseling offer both individual and group sessions to parents with LGBTQIA+ youth through programs such as the B.L.O.O.M program, co-facilitated by 864-Pride!

What is the most rewarding part of being a part of Amaryllis Counseling?

While part of providing counseling services to LGBTQIA+ youth can be considered a “job,” using skills created after years of specific education and training, there is much more to it than just that for the folks at Amaryllis Counseling. Liz states that one of the most rewarding parts of the job is watching someone just starting their journey discover and embrace who they are, and then use that newfound confidence to navigate the adversity the world has to offer. Discovering your identity does not come with a guidebook, so being a part of the journey is not only a great service to the community, but an honor!

How can I get in line for services at Amaryllis Counseling?

Well, the first thing to do is check out their website at https://www.amarylliscounseling.org/. You can also reach out to admin@amarylliscounseling.org which will put you in contact with Cody, their referrals coordinator.  Both ways will help you check out the services they offer and get you in line for your first session with their team!

Amaryllis Counseling is an official sponsor of Pridefest 2023. Their support helps to keep our annual event free to the public and we are so excited they are a part of our collaboration for the LGBTQIA+ Community! Make sure to swing by and check them out in person at Pridefest 2023, held on June 10th, 11am-4pm, at First Baptist Church, Greenville, SC.

What I appreciate most about Pridefest Collaborative is their focus on empowering LGBTQ+ youth to become leaders and advocates for themselves and their community.

They provide opportunities for young people to develop growth, skills, and engage in advocacy work, and create positive change in their own lives and communities.
